Michelle Obama Headlines Tom Wolf Campaign Event in Philly

First Lady Michelle Obama will headline a get-out-the-vote rally for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tom Wolf in Northwest Philadelphia Wednesday morning.

The event will be held at the Dorothy Emanuel Recreation Center, located at 8500 Pickering Ave. near the John F. McCloskey School. Doors open to the ticketed public at 9 a.m.

A Wolf campaign release billed the rally as a "grassroots event for Tom Wolf to mobilize voters and urge them to be there and vote on Nov. 4."

It's neither Wolf nor the Obama family's first time in this part of Philadelphia.

On Oct. 3, Wolf visited West Oak Lane to "walk a day" in the shoes of home health care worker Aretha Spady in an event organized by the Service Employees International Union.

In Sept. 2012, Michelle Obama's older brother Craig Robinson joined volunteers at the presidential campaign's West Oak Lane office as they continued their weekly voter-registration efforts.

And, of course, President Barack Obama headlined an Oct. 2010 rally on the field behind the since-shuttered Fulton Elementary School in Germantown.

Wednesday's rally comes just 20 days before Wolf faces incumbent Gov. Tom Corbett in the gubernatorial election.
