Married Couple Throws Baby in Dumpster: Police

Dereke and Jeanne Moore of Smyrna, Del. were arrested after allegedly putting their newborn baby in a trash bag and throwing it in a dumpster.
Dover Police arrested a married couple after they admitted to putting their newborn baby in a garbage bag and throwing it in a dumpster, say police.
The couple claims the baby was still born, say police.
Police questioned Jeanne A. Moore, 28, and Dereke R. Moore, 27, both of 982 Tamara Drive, Smyrna, Del., after Bayhealth Medical Center notified authorities that Jeanne arrived at the hospital on Monday for treatment of vaginal bleeding often associated with recent childbirth.
Jeanne told hospital staff that she gave birth to a stillborn baby early Saturday at her home and her husband then placed the infant in a trash bag and threw it in a dumpster behind the Hampton Inn at 1568 N. Dupont Highway in Dover.
Police found the dead baby and turned it over to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
Both Jeanne and Dereke Moore were arrested on charges of abusing a corpse and conspiracy in the third degree. They are being held on $10,000 bond.
Police continue to investigate and are awaiting the autopsy results.
