Man on Trial in Deadly Beating of 95-Year-Old Woman

Police say Hector "Tito" DeJesus fatally beat the elderly woman after he broke into her home and ordered her to take off her clothes

A man faces trial on charges he broke into a 95-year-old woman's Philadelphia home, propositioned her for sex and fatally beat her.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports 42-year-old Hector "Tito" DeJesus faces charges of murder, attempted sexual assault, burglary and other counts in the Feb. 25 assault on Alice Sanders, who died of her injuries.

Authorities allege Sanders had shopped at the grocery store where DeJesus worked and that the manager told him to carry her packages home.

Authorities allege he did so and then returned later in the day, broke in and ordered the woman to take off her clothes.

Police say he fatally beat her when she refused.

Authorities say he also told them he'd been drinking and doing cocaine. Defense lawyer Christopher Phillips says he'll ask to have the statement suppressed.
