No Witnesses Come Forward After Car Crash: Cops

Police say no one except the woman who struck the man, stopped to help or call authorities.

A man is fighting for his life after a car accident in West Norriton.

It happened Tuesday at 6:50 a.m. at the intersection of West Main Street and Schuylkill Avenue. Police say a woman, driving a dark blue Dodge Caliber, was traveling east towards Norristown when she struck a 50-year-old West Norriton man who was crossing the street.

Investigators say the woman stopped at the scene and called police. However, they also say no other drivers on the road stopped to help or call authorities.

“It’s a very heavily traveled road,” said Chief Robert Adams of the West Norriton Police Department. “It’s the main thoroughfare into and out of Norristown. At that time it’s about as heavily traveled as you’re going to get.”

The man was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he is currently in critical condition. Police continue to investigate and are hoping to hear from other witnesses.
