Cousins Found Shot to Death in Parked Vehicle: Police

Newark police and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office say the man and woman were found shot to death in a parked vehicle in the city's West ward Saturday afternoon.

Two more people have been gunned down in Newark.

Newark, N.J. police and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office say cousins Damien Matteaux and Nyquese McCollum were found shot to death in a parked vehicle in the city's West ward Saturday afternoon.

Police say the shooting was targeted and that it appears Matteaux was the person targeted. Police say the 23-year-old Matteaux, of Newark, and the 16-year-old McCollum, of Irvington, were on their way to pick up Matteaux's girlfriend at her job in Union at the time of the shooting.

Police don't yet have a motive or suspects.

The killings were the 63rd and 64th in Newark this year. They came about two weeks after a 10-day period in which 10 people were murdered in the city.
