Middletown High School in Middletown, Del. was under lockdown Wednesday afternoon because there was a man with a gun in a nearby development, police say.

The school went on lockdown after noon, and at about 2 p.m. Middletown Police said that they had the incident under control.

The gunman was at Fairfield Commons apartment complex, which is a few blocks away from the school.

Middletown High School officials told NBC Philadelphia that normal dismissal is 2:30 p.m., but there is no word on when they will dismiss.
