Wanted Man Wounded After Police Chase

A man was in critical condition after he allegedly fired at four officers who then shot him after a 30-mile police chase through several western Pennsylvania communities. No officers were wounded.

Online court records show Kiski Valley troopers have charged 41-year-old Joshua Jesse, of Monroeville, with attempted homicide and aggravated assault. Police says he was taken to Forbes Regional Hospital where a spokeswoman says he was in the intensive care unit Thursday.

State police say Monroeville police broadcast that the man was armed and possibly needing mental health assistance Wednesday evening. The Valley News Dispatch reports Murrysville police chased Jesse after he refused to pull over about 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Police from several municipalities joined in before Jesse exited his vehicle and was confronted in Bell Township by officers from several departments who returned fire about 7:20 p.m.
