Man Wanted for Lewd Acts on LBI Beaches

Police on Long Beach Island are looking for a man who has been exposing himself on local beaches.

Two incidents occurred in Ship Bottom between 13th and 15th Streets on the afternoons of July 22 and 26.

Each time, the man -- believed to be in his late 20s -- exposed himself to the teenage girls and in one of the incidents, he was pleasuring himself, according to Ship Bottom police.

In both cases, the victims walked away and the man left the scene.

The victims did not report what happened until Wednesday and late last week.

On Monday, a man with a similar description approached a woman on the Norwood Avenue beach in Beach Haven. He exposed himself and masturbated and when the victim tried to leave the beach, the man began chasing her, according to police. The suspect fled after the woman began screaming, said authorities.

Police have released a composite sketch of the man they’re looking for. He has pale skin, stands between 6-foot and 6-foot 4-inches tall, and weighs at least 200 pounds with a stocky build. At the time of the incidents, he had dirty blond hair and chin strap-style facial hair.

None of the victims was physically assaulted.

Anyone with information on the man’s identity is asked to call Ship Bottom Police at 609-494-1518 or Beach Haven Police at 609-492-0505.
