A victim told Philadelphia Police that he was stabbed while "relieving himself" in a Kensington alley very early Monday morning.
The man told police that he was urinating in an alley on K and Vanango streets when another man approached him, screamed homophobic slurs and began stabbing him.
He was stabbed in the face, neck and hands, before he was able to grab a tire used to defend himself, officials said.
The suspect took off on foot.
The victim was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
A search for the suspect is underway. Anyone with information is urged to call 911.
