Man Unharmed After Car Flips on Side

It was a July 4th to remember for one Havertown man after he amazingly walked away from an accident without a scratch, even with his car flipped on its side.

It happened Wednesday night at Township Line Road and Lexington. Theodore Somach says he was driving his 4-door Cadillac when he suddenly heard an engine revving loudly behind him.

“Apparently it was so loud the people here in the home heard the engine and ran outside,” said Somach.  “I heard the brakes squeal and I prepared myself to be hit.”

Police say a man driving a Mustang somehow lost control of his vehicle and struck Somach’s Cadillac, sending it onto its side.

“I turned the wheel all the way to the side as I was going right into the tree,” said Somach. “I was able to swing the car around and avoid hitting the tree straight on.”

Police say the driver of the Mustang continued down the street and struck another vehicle with a family inside. Both the driver of the Mustang and someone inside the second vehicle that was struck were taken to the hospital. Miraculously however, not only did Somach survive his car flipping to its side, he also escaped uninjured.

“I said, ‘God, please save my life’ and I crawled through the sunroof,” said Somach. “I’m thankful I’m alive right now, let alone not injured.”

No one has been charged as of now as police continue to investigate the accident. The conditions of the two victims have not been released at this time though police say their injuries did not appear to be serious.
