Police are investigating the alleged attempted luring of a young boy in Delaware.
It happened Thursday around 3:20 p.m. in New Castle. Police say an 8-year-old boy exited the Big Lots Store in the Penn Mart Shopping Center and followed his sister out of the store to get his mom’s purse from their car.
While the boy was standing in front of the store, police say a man in a red pickup truck in the parking lot asked him if he wanted a toy. The man then allegedly told the boy that the toy was inside his truck if he wanted it. It was then police say, that the boy’s mother exited the store and escorted her son back inside. The suspect then fled in a pickup truck in an unknown direction, according to investigators. The boy was not injured.
Police have not provided a description of the suspect but do say he was driving a two-door red pickup truck of an unknown make.
