Man, Teen Charged in Bodega Shootings

Murder charges have been filed against a northern New Jersey man and a teenage boy accused in a Newark bodega shooting that left one man dead and two other men wounded.

Essex County prosecutors tell The Star-Ledger of Newark that 20-year-old Juwan Brice of Hillside and the 14-year-old also were charged with conspiracy, robbery, aggravated assault and weapons offenses stemming from the March 18th shooting at the Super Variety Dollar Plus Store.

Twenty-one-year-old Nyshay Simmons was pronounced dead at the store, while another man there was critically wounded. A third man was also shot in the store, but left before police arrived and was discovered the next morning at a hospital where he had sought treatment.

It was not known Saturday if either defendant has retained a lawyer.
