Man Shot in Del. Motel Room: Cops

Police are searching for two suspects who allegedly tried to break into a motel room and shot the 47-year-old man who was staying there.

Police are investigating a shooting in New Castle.

It happened Saturday around 4:20 a.m. at the Super Lodge Motel on the 1200 block of West Avenue in New Castle. Police say a 47-year-old man and a female acquaintance were inside a room in the motel when they heard a knock at the door. When the male victim opened the door, two men attempted to force their way inside, according to investigators.

Police say a struggle ensued until one of the alleged intruders pulled out a gun and shot the 47-year-old. The victim continued to struggle with the suspects until they fled the area. The man was taken to the hospital where he was treated for a graze wound. His female acquaintance was not injured.
