A man is in critical condition and his girlfriend and a child are shaken up following a violent home invasion this morning in the Olnery section of the city.
A 23-year-old man, his girlfriend and a 7-year-old child were sleeping in a unit of the Hillside Apartments when they heard a knock on the door at approximately 6:10 a.m.
Police say the woman answered the door to a masked man armed with a gun. He ordered her to be quiet and forced his way inside before heading into the bedroom where the victim was, according to authorities.
A scuffle ensued and the 23-year-old man was shot twice in the chest, police say.
The woman and child were able to escape during the scuffle.
Officials say the suspect fled the scene, as did the victim who was found a few blocks away from the shooting.
The man was rushed to Einstein Medical Center where he is in critical but stable condition.
Police are looking for the suspect who was wearing a blue ski mask at the time of the attack. If anyone has information on the incident, please call Philadelphia Police.
