Man Sentenced to 45 Years in Prison for Camden Killings

A New York man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for the killings of two people found buried in a backyard in Camden.

Peter Leonce must serve nearly 43 years before he's eligible for parole after his sentencing Friday.

The 21-year-old Astoria, N.Y., resident was convicted in July of murder, aggravated manslaughter and other offenses in the 2010 killings of Michael Hawkins and Muriah Huff.

Prosecutors say the 23-year-old Hawkins, of Mount Holly, was beaten, shot and stabbed at a house in Camden, allegedly over a gang dispute and a stolen bottle of liquor.

The 18-year-old Huff, of Cinnaminson, had accompanied Hawkins and was killed to stop her from identifying the attackers.

All 10 suspects in the case have pleaded guilty or were convicted by a jury.
