A southern New Jersey man who fatally stabbed his children's mother has been sentenced to 28 years in state prison.
Camden County prosecutors say 26-year-old Julio Martinez, of Camden, must serve about 24 years before he becomes eligible for parole.
Martinez had pleaded guilty last month to aggravated manslaughter in the May 2012 death of Sophia Ortiz, the mother of two of his children.
Martinez admitted breaking into Ortiz's home on the 400 block of Boyd Street in Camden. He entered the residence through a second-story window and kicked open a door to stab the victim.
The attack followed numerous threats Martinez made against Ortiz.
