Man Sentenced For Robbing Elderly Woman

Philadelphia police have made an arrest in the Easter Sunday robbery of a 94-year-old woman.

A man who was caught on video attacking and robbing a 94-year-old woman on Easter Sunday in 2012 learned his fate on Tuesday.

Antonio Santiago, 30, of Bridesburg, was arrested on April 15, 2012, and charged with robbery, aggravated assault, theft, receiving stolen property, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

Surveillance cameras allegedly caught Santiago following the woman while she was walking home from a supermarket on Loretto Avenue April 8, 2012. The video showed a man grabbing the woman's pocketbook, throwing her to the ground in the process, before fleeing the scene.

The woman suffered a broken arm and multiple cuts and bruises.

On Tuesday, Santiago was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison.
