Ocean Township Police are searching for a man who they say robbed a clerk at knifepoint at an Ocean County Subway shop.

It happened Sunday night at the Subway on 542 U.S. Highway 9 in Waretown. Police say a man walked into the shop shortly after 7 p.m. and ordered a sandwich. He then allegedly took out a black knife and demanded money from the cash register.

Police say the clerk placed the money into the man’s sandwich bag. The robber then fled on foot towards Main Street.

The suspect is described as a man in his mid-30’s, standing 5-foot-10 to 6-feet with a large mole or birthmark on his right cheek and jawline. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white or gray-hooded sweatshirt.
