Man Missing in Pennypack Creek Identified

Police identified the 20-year-old man who went missing in Pennypack Creek Tuesday

Police have identified the man who went missing in Pennypack Creek Tuesday after he and some friends were riding on pool floats down the fast-moving creek.

Saulius Kvaraciejus, 20, of the 7900 block of Craig Street in Philadelphia, still has not been found after disappearing in the waters swollen by torrential rains Tuesday.

Kvaraciejus was floating down the creek with several friends on the pool rafts when two of the rafts overturned over some small waterfalls near Roosevelt Boulevard at about 6:30 p.m.

"The male struggled to get back on the raft and he could not," said Chief Inspector Scott Small. "Then he was struggling to stay afloat and keep his head above water."

Rescue crews searched Pennypack creek with motorboats and helicopters Tuesday night but did not find young man.
