Man Missing in Avalon Found

Police say Harry O'Neill suffers from Parkinson's and may also have the early onset of Alzheimer's.

The search for a 73-year-old Wynnewood, Pa. man who went missing in Avalon Wednesday has ended. Harry O'Neill Jr., was found sitting in an area of brush about 10 blocks from were he was last seen. 

The tip came from a neighbor who called Avalon Police after hearing noises in the brush.

The man was located conscious and alert and was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center for evaluation.  

O’Neill was reported missing on Wednesday, August 26th, at 4:47pm. The man and his family were on the Avalon beach where he decided to take a walk; Mr. O’Neill’s wife contacted the Avalon Beach Patrol when he did not return.The Avalon Police Department was immediately notified. A comprehensive search for Mr. O’Neill began immediately, and Cape May County Sheriff’s Department K-9 squad was called to assist with the search.
