Man Likely Following Slain Woman Caught on Tape

Sabina shown on video moments before her murder

Philadelphia police examined video footage that shows a 20-year-old waitress being followed by a man shortly before her death, according to Philly.com.

The video images captured on the night Sabina Rose O'Donnell was sexually assaulted, beaten and then strangled to death, shows her biking along Girard Avenue, apparently on her way home to the apartment she shared with her stepfather at Fourth Street and Girard Avenue.

A man on a bike passes her in the opposite direction, and then doubles back. But it's unclear whether he can be linked to her killing.

"It’s nothing definitive right now," Philadelphia Police Homicide Captain. James Clark said.

O’Donnell worked at the popular restaurant P.Y.T. at Piazza and Schmidt’s. On Tuesday police say she was coming home after a night out with friends and was headed to her apartment when a man grabbed her. The following morning her nude body was discovered behind a tree in an empty lot in the 1200 block of N. Orianna, according to police.

Investigators are working to enhance the quality of the images on tape.

Investigators also recovered DNA from the crime scene and are analyzing it with hopes it will lead to her killer. Analysis will not be completed for several weeks. Capt. Clark would not say what type of DNA substance was found.

The Citizens Crime Commission is offering a $25,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of O'Donnell's murderer.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Commission Tipline at 215.546.8477 (TIPS).
