Police are searching for a driver who they say struck and killed a pedestrian before fleeing the scene.

Investigators say it happened Friday at 11:40 p.m. in Wilmington. John Turner, 41, was walking on West Newport Pike at Harding Avenue when he was struck by an unknown vehicle, according to investigators. Police say Turner was thrown 30 feet onto the sidewalk after the impact. The driver did not stop and fled the scene, according to investigators. Turner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are still trying to determine the make and model of the suspect's vehicle. They also say it should have damage to the right front passenger side.
