Man Killed in Apparent Road Rage Accident

Police need help finding vehicle involved in crash

A man was killed in a fatal crash near on Interstate 95 South near Philadelphia International Airport last month-- the victim of a possible road rage incident.

Thomas Dean, 40, of Claymont, Del., was traveling south on I-95 in the center lane. Dean was driving a black 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. A car traveling in the left lane in front of him -- a dark-colored (possibly green) SUV or pickup truck with tinted windows -- made an abrupt lane change, forcing Dean to move to the right lane, State Police said.

Dean slowed his motorcycle and moved behind the automobile into the left lane. From there, Dean made hand gestures and yelled at the automobile's driver, police said.

The driver of the truck/SUV then swerved sharply to the left, striking Dean's bike. Dean, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered fatal injuries in the accident.

The driver of the striking vehicle sped off from the scene, said police.

Witnesses gave a description of the SUV or pickup truck. The automobile may have had a Pennsylvania registration plate. Witnesses could not make out the make or model of the vehicle.

Police believe there should be right front end damage and possibly black paint or rubber on the auto.

Anyone who might have seen the crash or know anything about the vehicle involved should call Pa. State Police at 215-560-6200.
