Police: Man Involved in Vicious South Street Beating Arrested

One of the men involved in the vicious beating of a man on a bicycle was arrested, according to police.

Steve Lidee, 21, was among a group of eight people who attacked the 51- year-old man at Broad and South Streets the night of May 30th, authorities said.

The man's injuries were so severe he was on life support for a time. He is still recovering in the hospital.

Police are looking for the other suspects.

“This arrest illustrates the dedicated police work and the fact that we in Philadelphia and the police department do not take this lightly. We will investigate. We will pursue you and we will make arrests," Philadelphia police Captain Larry Nodiff said.

The attack was part of a bigger problem with young people amassing on South Street that night, police said.

Weekend patrols were increased as a result.
