Man Gets Prison – and Lecture – for Tattooing Girl, 12

A Pennsylvania man received 16 months to five years in prison - and a lecture from the judge - for tattooing a smiley face and a derogatory word on a 12-year-old girl who spent the night at his home last year.

The Meadville Tribune reports 33-year-old Randall Charlton II, of Centerville, was sentenced Tuesday by Crawford County Judge John Spataro.

Calling the incident "reprehensible," the judge told Charlton, "You're the adult. You have an obligation to do the right thing."

Charlton and his girlfriend, 30-year-old Melissa Becker, pleaded guilty to the incident May 14. Becker was given four months to two years in jail in September.

Crawford County prosecutors say Charlton and Becker didn't contact the girl's mother for permission to be tattooed. That's against the law in Pennsylvania.
