Man Finds 4-Foot Gator in Delco Creek

A Delaware County man and his son made a scary discovery while walking near Chester Creek on Wednesday – an alligator, sitting on a rock watching them, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.

“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” father Ian Bostwick told the Daily Times.

Bostwick say that the gator jumped back into the Aston, Delaware County creek and began swimming in circles as if he was hungry, reports the paper.

He grabbed his son, Ian Jr., and took him home where he called police.

Not long after, he returned to the creek to show police where the gator was. Authorities promptly shot it, according to the Times.

“We didn’t want it to get away, so we took the measures we did,” Aston Animal Control Officer Allen Strickler told the paper.

Animal Control says the gator could have grown to 15-feet and 1,000-pounds.
