Man Faces Trial in Pa. Party Bus Slaying

A jury was hearing opening statements in the trial of one of three men charged in the shooting death of a man pulled off a western Pennsylvania party bus.

The defendant, 22-year-old James Lawrence, of Pittsburgh, claims he was with his girlfriend and another man at a house in Pittsburgh at the time of the shooting in March 2013.

But prosecutors say Lawrence and 23-year-old Michael Lyons and 24-year-old Jerrick Lane-Bryant pulled the victim - 21-year-old Steven Lee Jr. - off the bus outside a Pittsburgh bar and shot him. Lee is from nearby McKees Rocks.

The other suspects in the shooting are scheduled for trial later this year.

Lawrence is also awaiting trial in the February 2013 shooting of 28-year-old Tiona Jackson, a nurse and mother of six, also outside a Pittsburgh bar.
