Passenger of speeding car dies in Northeast Philly accident Sunday, police say

A 21-year-old man was ejected from a car and killed in Northeast Philadelphia Sunday after the driver of the vehicle in which he was a passenger was speeding and came in contact with another car, police say.

The accident happened at about 3 p.m. Sunday when the 19-year-old driver of a 1997 Ford Expedition was speeding on Roosevelt Boulevard and abruptly weaving in and out of lanes, police say.

The driver of the Ford Expedition hit the fender of a Nissan 240SX and the Ford then mounted the curb, drove along the grass median and flipped several times, finally coming to rest on its roof, police say.

The 21-year-old passenger of the Ford was ejected from the SUV and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford was brought to the hospital in critical condition with multiple fractures, police say.

According to police, the accident is under investigation.
