Summer fun turned to tragedy this Fourth of July.
Around 10 p.m. Sunday, the Ocean City Police and Fire Departments were called to 8th Street beach for a water rescue.
After a brief search of the area, the male victim was found on the beach at 7th Street and rushed to Shore Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, according to the authorities.
The victim's name is being withheld until his family is notified.
Ocean City Police are investigating the incident.
