Man Dead After Officer-Involved Shooting

Delaware State Police say a man has died, days after being shot during a confrontation with Milford police.

Police say 58-year-old Roy Rhodes died Monday night at Milford Memorial Hospital after an officer shot him Saturday.

A preliminary investigation shows Rhodes pulled into the path of an oncoming car on Milford Harrington Highway, then drove off the road. The other driver found Rhodes holding a knife to his own throat. When the other driver took the knife, police say Rhodes pulled out a gun. As he got out of the car, a Milford officer arrived, but police say Rhodes did not comply with orders to drop the gun and was shot three times.

Police say Sgt. Robert Young is on administrative duty and state police are investigating the incident.
