Angry Man Crashes Car When Girlfriend Won't Buy Cigarettes: Police

Authorities say a southern New Jersey man who was angry because his girlfriend wouldn't buy him a pack of cigarettes intentionally swerved his car until he lost control and hit a utility pole last week.

Kenneth Lee Price Jr., 27, of Egg Harbor Township allegedly left the scene before police arrived, even though his girlfriend was bleeding profusely from a head wound, reports The Asbury Park Press. He was found a short time later.

The crash occurred around 10 a.m. Friday in Toms River. Authorities say the injured woman, identified only as a Williamstown resident, was treated at a hospital.

Price was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving while suspended/causing serious bodily injury. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
