Man Accused of Abandoning 10 Kids After Promising Super Bowl Trip

A man is in custody for allegedly leaving 10 children and teenagers behind in Bethlehem, Pa. after promising to take them on a Super Bowl trip.

The Express-Times reports that 39-year-old Rafael Andrews of Hartford, Wisconsin allegedly told police that he planned to take the children to Sunday's National Football League championship to solicit money for the group Christian Programs for Inner City Children.

Five of the children called police from a mall after Andrews allegedly abandoned them there, and five others were allegedly left unsupervised as they solicited money door-to-door in cold weather. Bethlehem is about 60 miles north of Philadelphia.

Andrews is facing multiple counts of endangering the welfare of children and is being held at the Northampton County Prison on $150,000 bond.

No attorney was listed on court papers.
