Man Catches Python With Bare Hands

Residents fear pythons are loose in N.J. apartment complex

A Sicklerville man came to the rescue of his neighbors Friday when he singlehandedly caught a 4-foot python slithering through his apartment complex.

Well, he actually used both hands.

Twenty-year-old Donald Causey rushed to his friend’s place after being told there was a python on the front porch. His interest in catching harmless snakes as a boy in Camden finally paid proving useful. Using a cane Causey held the snake down until he had the perfect opportunity to pick it up, reports the Courier Post.

Causey may have been braver than the police officers who responded to the call for help.

Sill holding the animal that uses its entire body to strangle its prey, Causey waited for the police. When they finally arrived, the officers backed away from Causey and the python and had him hold it until animal control officials arrived, reports the Courier Post.

Though the python was caught, Tamerlane Apartment residents are still on edge. Causey and other neighbors believe more pythons are loose in the complex because a 6-foot python was spotted a day before Causey grabbed the 4-footer.

"It's just a little upsetting because there are young kids that it could harm," resident Thomas Gardner told the Courier Post.

Many people believe a Tamerlane Apartment resident moved away but left the pet snakes behind, reports the Courier Post.
