Man Calls 911, Then Asks for Ride to Convenience Store

A man staying at a Burlington County, New Jersey motel has been arrested for calling 911 and then asking police for a ride to a convenience store.

Kurt Smith, 56, told a 911 operator that there was a disorderly person in his room at the Route 206 Inn in Southampton around 2 p.m. Sunday, New Jersey State Police said.

When troopers arrived, Smith told them that there was no disturbance and that he just needed a ride to a local convenience store, police said.

Smith was arrested and charged with causing a false public alarm.

Unable to post the $20,000 cash bail, he is now sitting in a cell in the Burlington County Prison, officials said.
