Police say a 20-year-old man has been arrested after bringing a knife to a Philadelphia high school.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the George Washington High School on Bustleton Avenue. Police say someone at the school saw Gerald Crimi sitting in one of the classrooms and notified a school officer. Investigators say the suspect had a 6-inch knife in his possession.

Police charged Crimi with bringing a weapon to school and defiant trespassing.

It is unknown why Crimi was at the school.

The incident remains under investigation.
