Man Badly Burned While Helping People Escape Duplex Fire

A man is fighting for his life after he was badly burned while helping neighbors escape a duplex fire in the Hunting Park section of the city.

The fire began at a two-story duplex on the 4400 block of North 8th Street late Saturday afternoon. A 25-year-old resident suffered severe burns to his hands and face, and was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he is currently in critical condition.

Thomas Rosado, who witnessed the fire, told NBC10 the victim was running in and out of the burning home helping people escape.

"His main goal was to save them, no questions asked," Rosado said. "He did what he had to do."

Firefighters were eventually able to bring the blaze under control. They continue to investigate the cause.
