Cops Nab Suspect in Bridge Attacks

Police arrested a man who they say was responsible for attacking two women on the Ben Franklin Bridge within the past week.

Last Monday, around 4:30 p.m., police say that Joseph Haskins, 47, of Blackwood, attacked and sexually assaulted a woman jogging on the bridge’s walkway.

On Wednesday around 7 a.m., police say that Haskins attacked and groped another woman who was walking on the bridge. The woman kept moving, according to investigators. Other witnesses reported the incident to police.

Delaware River Port Authority officers found Haskins still on the bridge later that day and arrested him.

After Haskins was taken into custody, police say that the woman from Monday’s incident identified him as the man who attacked her. Haskins is charged with sexual assault.

Police have not charged Haskins for Wednesday's incident because the victim has not come forward to report the attack. They are hoping that she gives them an official statement.

Haskins previously served time in prison from Dec. 4, 2007 to Jan. 20, 2010 for assault and criminal sexual contact.
