A New York City man has been arrested on allegations that he raped a Pittsburgh woman more than 20 years ago.
Authorities say 61-year-old Arthur Fryar was arrested Thursday in Brooklyn.
Police say a man forced his way inside the apartment of a 32-year-old Pittsburgh woman in November 1992 and raped her. In April, a friend of the woman's family contacted Pittsburgh police and asked them to re-open the case.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office processed the 1992 rape kit and found DNA that didn't belong to the woman, according to a criminal complaint.
Police say the DNA matched a sample from Fryar, which was in a national crime database.
A woman who answered the phone under a listing in Fryar's name had no comment.
