Woman Charged With Setting Another Woman on Fire

Suspect knew victim: authorities

Philadelphia Police charged a woman who is suspected of lighting another woman on fire last week.

Doreen Cuffie, 45, faces aggravated assault and related charges for allegedly splashed a flammable substance on the unidentified victim's face and then allegedly setting her on fire with a lighter.

The assault happened in South Philadelphia in the 800 block of 16th Street last Friday morning, according to police.

The women knew each other and the motive was a dispute, officials said.

Originally it was said that gasoline was used as the accelerant to start the fire, but the exact liquid thrown on the woman remained unknown Tuesday.

The unidentified victim was rushed to the Burn Center at Temple University Hospital where she was listed in serious condition, officials said.
