Philly Man Arrested After Trying to Swallow Bag of Crack

The officers also seized $1,305 in suspected drug proceeds.

New Castle County police arrested a Philadelphia man after they caught him trying to swallow a bag containing several pieces of crack cocaine.

It happened Saturday afternoon in the Henderson Heights section of the city when police say 32-year-old Luis Torres-Martinez was pulled over for illegal window tinting.

Officers noticed Torres-Martinez was drinking soda from a McDonald’s cup and was having trouble swallowing.

Police say he was arrested after police determined he was attempting to swallow a plastic bag containing what was found to be crack cocaine –55 pieces in all.

The officers also seized $1,305 in suspected drug proceeds.

Torres-Martinez, was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for keeping a controlled substance, tampering with evidence, and two traffic violations.

His arraignment disposition is pending.
