Man Arrested After Firing 2 Guns Near I-95

New Castle County Police

New Castle County Police arrested a man who they say fired off two guns in the direction of Interstate 95.

County police were called to the 1300 block of Tulane Road in Wilmington Thursday night after several residents reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area. Police say Brian Szymanski fired a 12 gauge loaded shotgun and a .22 caliber rifle from the rear of his home in the direction of I-95, which is approximately 100 yards away.

Police say two of Szymanski’s children were inside the home at the time of the shooting but were not injured.

On Friday, police recovered an additional .22 caliber rifle, a semi-automatic .22 caliber handgun and ammunition. Delaware State Police reported the rifle stolen earlier this year.

Police say no one was injured and no property was damaged during the incident.

Szymanski was charged with reckless endangering in the first degree, discharging rifles or other explosives and receiving a stolen firearm.

He was arraigned and released on $8,250 unsecured bail.
