Man Admits Killing Woman, Dumping Body in Delco

Police say a 23-year-old man told them he killed the woman found in a car in a Drexel Hill parking lot.

Police say a 23-year-old man admitted to killing a woman and dumping her body in a Drexel Hill apartment complex parking lot last week.

Authorities tell NBC Philadelphia that Charles Deloatche was arrested on Saturday when he allegedly told police he accidentally shot and killed 18-year-old Camilla Stephenson and left her body in her blue Chrysler sedan in the parking lot of the Creek Road Apartments on Dennison Avenue.

He claims self-defense and tells police he was trying to fight off both Stevenson and a male passenger when he accidentally shot the victim, according to police.

"It seems clear that this tragedy was caused by a fight over a gun, in which Mr. Deloatche was in fear for his life. It's self-defense from both the victim, Camilla Stevenson, [and a male passenger]," Deloatche's lawyer Kevin Mark Wray said.

Landscapers found Stephenson's body slumped over in the vehicle around noon on Friday and called police.

Authorities say that the victim had been dead for at least 18 hours. They say she died from a gunshot wound to the back of the head.
