Prosecutors say a man who allegedly called in false threats about bombs at the Union County courthouse complex has been charged with creating a false public alarm.
County prosecutors say 29-year-old David Daniels of Elizabeth made two 911 calls on March 24 from separate pay phones in downtown Elizabeth. The first was made around 8:30 a.m., and the second came about an hour later.
Daniels allegedly told dispatchers during both calls that bombs were about to detonate within the courthouse complex. A thorough search didn't reveal any explosives, and the investigation later revealed Daniels was scheduled to appear in court that morning on an unrelated matter.
Daniels was arrested Friday afternoon. His bail was set at $140,000.
