Man, 84, Gets Prison Term for Raping Girl

Police say the man's wife also aided in the assaults

An 84-year-old Pennsylvania man will spend up to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting and raping a teenage girl over a three-year period, beginning when she was 13.

Ralph Duncan, of Brush Valley, has been sentenced to eight to 30 years in prison by an Indiana County judge for that case as well as for intimidating a 10-year-old boy who had accused Duncan's 31-year-old son of molesting him.

Duncan was sentenced Monday.

His 35-year-old wife, Katherine Duncan, allegedly knew about the assaults against the girl and aided in them.

"We believe she would actually go as far as to buy the condoms for him to use," state trooper John Matchik told WTAJ-TV  when the couple was arrested.

Katherine Duncan is awaiting trial on charges of conspiracy to commit rape, indecent assault and endangering the welfare of children.

Police say Ralph Duncan's victim used Facebook to tell a friend about the incidents.

"We are very thankful the friend went to police about what she saw happening," Matchik said. "This is absolutely heartbreaking and disturbing."

Police arrested the Duncans in May 2012 after an investigation confirmed the sex had occurred.
