South Jersey has been coated by several inches of snow spurred by a strong storm system that's battering southeastern states.
A steady snow that developed Saturday afternoon was expected to continue through the evening hours. More than 6 inches had fallen in parts of Cape May County by 7 p.m., while about 3 to 5 inches were on the ground in many nearby areas.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Cape May County, where up to 8 inches was possible, and for Atlantic, Burlington, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean and Salem counties, where 4 to 6 inches was expected.
Meanwhile, a winter weather advisory was in effect for Camden County, where 1 to 3 inches was expected.
Philadelphia got an unexpected blast of the snow storm Saturday afternoon and evening, leaving a light coating of the white stuff and slick roadways throughout the area. Sunday should be partly cloudy and very cold, with a high of 30 degrees and a low of 13.
