Police rushed a home and arrested a man armed with knives and a machete in Long Branch, N.J. following a three-hour standoff.
City Public Safety Director Capt. Jason Roebuck tells the Asbury Park Press the incident began when the man got into a fight with his father on Monday. The father was cut on his head and was scratched on his knee.
Police responded to the area around 5:30 p.m.
Five tear-gas canisters were fired into the bungalow near Brighton Avenue during the standoff.
Roebuck says the man is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.
His name has not been released and charges are pending.
