Local Baseball Team Wins Babe Ruth World Series

As the Taney Dragons return to our area, another local baseball team is celebrating a huge win.

The Broomall-Newtown 13-year-old baseball team defeated Chandler-Mesa, Arizona 11-4 on Friday to win the Babe Ruth World Series in Glen Allen, Virginia.

Broomall-Newtown’s 15-year-old team is also competing in the Babe Ruth World Series. They lost to Woodinville, Washington 7-0 on Saturday. They are now scheduled to face Lumber River, North Carolina on Monday at noon in the double elimination tournament in Longview, Washington.

It’s the first time in history that two Delaware County teams have gone to the World Series in the same year.

You can follow both teams on the Broomall-Newtown Baseball website.
