A Delaware County boy asked for something a little different this year for his birthday. Logan, who recently celebrated his 5th birthday, told his mom that instead of getting presents for himself, he wanted to get presents to give to K9 dogs.
His mom, Nicole, said it all came about when Logan decided on a police theme for his birthday party, and then asked “can we give presents to the dogs, too?”
Nicole says family members, coworkers, friends and others have pitched in to raise money to make gift baskets for K9s in the local area, mostly filled with toys and treats for the dogs.
She set up a GoFundMe account to help raise money so they could reach more departments.
“Logan likes giving the dogs toys because then he can play with the dogs, with their toys,” Nicole said.
Nicole says this isn’t the first time Logan has thought of giving to others.
“He goes through his own closet a lot to find toys and clothing that he doesn’t use anymore so that we can donate it to charity,” Nicole said.

Now, Nicole says they are planning to do this annually for Logan’s birthday. She says the gift-giving has given them a great relationship with local police, who often stop to talk to Logan when they see him.
