Little Girl Left Behind in Day Care Van

The mother tells NBC10 that her 5-year-old daughter was left in the van after traveling to an after-school program

Tanisha Monteiro says her five-year-old daughter, Taylor, was in tears when she arrived to pick her up Tuesday afternoon at Creative Care day care in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.

Monteiro tells NBC10's Monique Braxton that when she got to the school, she found out her daughter had fallen asleep and was left inside a day care van.

The working mom says that her daughter has been traveling from kindergarten to the after-school program at the daycare since September 10.

"I woke up, I started crying and I didn't know where they were," Taylor told NBC10.

The five-year-old says she screamed for help before unlocking the door and getting out.

"I'm disgusted. It's just unacceptable. You do a headcount, somebody dropped the ball along the way and it's just unacceptable," said Monteiro.

NBC10's Monique Braxton tried to speak with the owner of Creative Care day care and was asked to leave the property.

Police confirm the case is under investigation.
