Liquor Agent Gets 3 Years for Extorting Area Restaurants, Bars

Woman extorted $13,000 in cash from owners in Bucks and Montgomery counties

A former liquor enforcement officer in Pennsylvania who pleaded guilty to using her job to extort money has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Thirty-six-year-old Gina Maria Kepler pleaded guilty in June to federal extortion charges midway through her trial in Philadelphia.

She was also ordered Wednesday by U.S. District Court Judge Stewart Dalzell to pay almost $10,000 restitution.

Prosecutors said the former Warrington woman extorted $13,000 in cash from owners of bars and restaurants with liquor licenses in Bucks and Montgomery counties between October 2006 and October 2008.

She worked as an officer for the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement, an agency run by the state police.
